Lybbes Almshouses, Goring-on-Thames
The Breathable House Company is currently carrying out a full restoration project at the Lybbes Almshouses.
his historic almshouse building is undergoing a programme of both external and internal restoration works, aimed at rectifying damp and moisture-related issues arising from the use of inappropriate modern materials in previous interventions.
All works are being undertaken using compatible traditional materials and techniques, in line with conservation best practice, to restore the building’s breathability while preserving its character, significance, and long-term durability.
Frances Geering Almshouses - Harwell
We are also proud to be acting as Principal Contractor for the ongoing restoration of the Frances Geering Almshouses.
This important heritage building is set to undergo significant external restoration during the upcoming season. Our team is committed to preserving the building’s historic integrity while ensuring its long-term durability, with a focus on sensitive façade repairs and conservation-led detailing.
Across both projects, we are dedicated to maintaining open and clear communication with residents to minimise disruption throughout the works. Our aim is to ensure these historic almshouses are carefully restored and safeguarded for future generations, while remaining valued parts of their local communities.
